Web1 Nov 2024 · Dwell angle and point gap are measuring the same thing. The dwell angle is the number of degrees in the rotation of the dizzy that the points are closed. So as you say the wider the gap the smaller the angle. As the dwell angle is a functional rather than metric measurement of the point gap it's likely the more accurate.

Plus the gap is different from one set of points to another. The left side has a smaller physical gap.
