It is a vitamin K antagonist that inhibits coagulation by blocking synthesis of coagulation factors II, VII, IX and X. WebWarfarin, acenocoumarol, and phenprocoumon are known as coumarinic oral anticoagulants. These drugs are considered to be life-saving drugs, but a great interindividual variability is shown, concerning coumarinic drug response, mainly owing to several factors, including genomic variants in the CYP2C9 and VKORC1 genes.
