WebAug 1, 1991 · One June afternoon in 1948, the late Idaho biologist Stewart Brandborg, who conducted one of the first and most exhaustive studies of mountain goats, caught a rare glimpse of eagle predation. As he watched, a bald eagle suddenly landed a few feet from a group of five goats feeding along some cliffs west of Augusta, Montana.
